Our Family Legacy
Founded on tradition and innovation, Original Taco Pete has been a cornerstone of the Los Angeles culinary scene for over 55 years. In 1967, our founder Mack Jones began his journey—from cleaning up to eventually owning a beloved taco brand—instilling values of hard work, authenticity, and community pride. Today, his legacy continues through his sons, grandsons, and even his great-grandson, making us the oldest and largest Black-owned taco chain in the Greater Los Angeles area.
A Community Staple
Since 1989, our family has proudly operated as the premier Black taco spot in Los Angeles. Although we faced challenges along the way, including the loss of our historic location on 120th and Central, our commitment to our community remains unshaken. With current locations in Compton and South LA, we continue to serve fresh, flavorful tacos and more, keeping our tradition alive and thriving across Southern California.
